Motivation

I've committed myself to an Atlas Shrugged project illustrating the main characters. Mostly I'm interested in drawing Hank Rearden, Dagny Taggart, and Francisco d'Anconia. I'm intimidated to draw Dagny's body, in a suit or an evening dress, they are equally striking to me. Ayn Rand is a genius. Of that I am convinced.

Instinct

This was much more fun to draw than to paint digitally, but I guess I liked the way it turned out-- except the background. I don't know how I feel about the orange. This is supposed to be my cat Specter. She's never brought home a canary yet, but I've seen mice, rabbits, exotic birds (people's pets?), stellar jays, and finches.

Celebrate

I had a hard time this week with the word from Illustration Friday. I knew I didn't want to draw birthday cakes or brides or happy children. Instead I picked the heroic slaying of a terrorizing dragon, which the little townsfolk in the background are celebrating. I found the technique for this image fun, but unduly time-consuming.

Time

There hardly seems like enough time before something really great has to end. At least Cinderella gets to spend the rest of her life with Prince Charming once he tracks her down.

Flawed

The third Cardinal Sin is lust. There are many facets of this particular sin, but I chose this grossly over-represented interpretation because sexual lusts are the most easily depicted pictorially.
